Hydromx Case Study: ITC Maurya, New Delhi

ITC Maurya, a hotel in New Delhi, India, implemented Hydromx nano-technology heat transfer fluid in its heat pump system to generate hot water for hotel rooms. The results showed a significant reduction in power consumption and an improvement in system performance.

Background

ITC Maurya is a five-star hotel that caters to a high-end clientele. The hotel has a large number of guest rooms and suites, as well as a number of restaurants and banquet halls. To meet the hot water demands of its guests and operations, the hotel uses a heat pump system.

Challenge

The hotel’s heat pump system was using water as the heat transfer fluid. However, water has a lower heat transfer coefficient than Hydromx. This means that Hydromx can transfer heat more efficiently, which can lead to energy savings.

Solution

In July 2016, ITC Maurya agreed to measure the energy savings of the Hydromx® nano-technology heat transfer fluid compared to water. The data logger RTTL-04 was installed on the system and data were recorded using water as a medium of heat transfer from 1st July 2016. The heat transfer fluid, water, in the condenser side of the heat pump was changed from only water to 50% Hydromx on Nov. 17, 2016. The data were recorded using Hydromx as heat transfer fluid from 18th Nov. 2017 onwards for the next 27 days as well for 50 days.

Results

The results showed that Hydromx was able to save the hotel 22.6% on power consumption. The hotel also saw an improvement in system performance, with the COP (coefficient of performance) increasing by 29.2%.

ROI

The hotel estimated that it would recover its investment in Hydromx within 21 months.

Other Benefits

In addition to the energy savings and improved system performance, Hydromx also offers a number of other benefits, including:

  • Reduced maintenance costs: Hydromx is more resistant to corrosion and fouling than traditional heat transfer fluids. This means that the hotel can reduce its maintenance costs by extending the lifespan of its heat pump equipment.
  • Environmental benefits: Hydromx is a sustainable heat transfer fluid that does not contain any harmful chemicals. This means that the hotel can help to reduce its environmental impact by using Hydromx.

Conclusion

The case study of ITC Maurya shows that Hydromx can be a viable solution for businesses that are looking to save energy, improve system performance, reduce maintenance costs, and reduce their environmental impact.

ITC Maurya’s Experience with Hydromx

ITC Maurya has been very pleased with the results of its Hydromx implementation. The hotel has seen a significant reduction in its energy bills, and the system has been performing reliably. The hotel is also pleased with the environmental benefits of Hydromx.
